Disciplinary and Honor Code Suspension
Students may be suspended from the College for disciplinary reasons. A return to the College after a suspension is not automatic, but requires an application to the Dean of Students. A student returning from suspension for disciplinary reasons will normally be placed on disciplinary probation for the semester immediately following their return. A return will normally be denied if the conditions specified at the time of suspension have not been met. Requests for a return from disciplinary suspension must be made by April 1st for a fall semester return or by November 1st for a spring semester return. Hamilton College reserves the right to deny a return if space is not available. While on leave, students are not allowed to participate in campus activities (including clubs, organizations, committees, employment, research, or academic programs) or be on campus without first receiving permission from the Associate Vice President for Student Life.
Students may also be suspended from the College for a violation of the Honor Code. To return from an Honor Code suspension, students must complete all sanctions assigned by the Honor Court. Requests for a return from an Honor Court suspension must be made by April 1st for a fall semester return or by November 1st for a spring semester return. Hamilton College reserves the right to deny a return if space is not available. While on leave, students are not allowed to participate in campus activities (including clubs, organizations, committees, employment, research, or academic programs) or be on campus without first receiving permission from the Associate Vice President for Student Life.
