PSYCH-337 Psychology of Friendship

An exploration of theoretical and empirical research on the psychology of friendship, with an emphasis on sociocultural and evolutionary approaches. We will consider questions such as: What is friendship, and what functions does it serve in our lives? How do we seek and maintain friendships? In what ways is friendship similar and different across cultures? Through activities and reflections, students will use course material as a lens for examining their own important relationships.
