PHIL-282 Philosophy of Death and Dying

An introductory survey of philosophical approaches to death and dying. Topics to be discussed include definitions of death, the ‘good death,’ death and identity, whether and when death is a harm, death and suspended vitality, ethics in end-of-life care, posthumous harms, what we owe to the dead, and the possibility of an afterlife.
