PHIL-126 Marginalized Philosophies of the Americas

An introduction to the historically marginalized philosophies of Indigenous, Afro-Caribbean, and Latin American peoples, as well as to some of the philosophies of liberation developed in the Americas. The course will cover topics in social and political philosophy, philosophy of race, feminist philosophy, ethics, metaphysics, and epistemology, among others. The course will show, moreover, that these philosophical traditions contain valuable insights that can help us address some of our current philosophical and practical concerns.
