CHNSE-159 Self and Nation: Chinese Literature in the Twentieth Century

The main theme of this course is the representation of self and nation in Chinese literature. Important topics include modernity, nationalism, revolution, and globalization. Students will be familiar with important authors, texts, and literary schools of modern Chinese literary history and develop their critical reading and writing skills.
