WMGST-324 Sociology of Reproduction
This course examines contemporary issues in relation to human reproduction from a sociological perspective. We will cover topics that include contraception, sterilization, reproductive technologies, pregnancy, surrogacy, birth, postpartum, and childrearing. We will examine the socio-historical context of these issues in relation to the state, policy, medical institutions, welfare policy, and their impact in society. The course will primarily focus on reproduction within the United States with some cross-national comparisons.
