SOC-253 Muslim Migrants in Europe and North America

This course aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the experiences of Muslim refugees and immigrants as they navigate their lives in Western societies. Throughout the semester, we will explore the structural factors that motivate migration from Muslim-majority countries to Europe and North America; the challenges faced by Muslim migrants during the resettlement process; the political, social, and economic barriers to integration in receiving countries; and the impact of prejudice and discrimination on Muslim communities. By the end of the course, students will have a deeper appreciation of the diverse experiences and perspectives of Muslim migrants and a better understanding of the challenges they face in adapting to life in the West.
