RUSSN-370 Advanced Russian I

This course focuses on developing advanced speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Exposure to primary sources will be paired with explorations of complex grammatical structures to uncover linguistic subtleties and historical specificities of the Russian language. Activities such as close readings, group discussions, debates, in-class presentations, and written assignments will help students develop comprehension and fluency, preparing them to creatively and persuasively express and argue ideas in target language. By the end of the semester, students will also cultivate basic knowledge of academic Russian to critically examine and discuss authentic texts and the social, historical, and aesthetic developments shaping them.
