PHIL-225 Knowledge and Oppression

An examination of the relationship between knowledge and oppression. We explore various ways oppression limits knowledge, as well as how it is that knowledge empowers us to fight against oppression. We consider questions such as: In what ways do forces like racism, sexism, and classism shape what we can come to know? What knowledge does the experience of oppression provide us with? Does ignorance excuse wrongdoing? What knowledge can one have knowledge of oppression they have not experienced?
