Students will also explore her attention to language, form, and literary theory. In studying both Morrison’s formal and theoretical commitments, students will develop an awareness of how literature serves as a vehicle for animating and critiquing social, historical, and ethical concerns in our world. Assignments will include short critical essays, collaborative presentations and projects, and readings will include "The Source of Self-Regard," "The Bluest Eye," "Song of Solomon," and "Jazz."
