LING-322 Talk In Action

Talking in interaction is a fundamental constituent of social life. As the primary organizational structure for talk-in-interaction, ordinary conversation shapes both human sociality and the major institutions of societies. This course introduces students to conversation analysis (CA) with two primary goals: 1) to develop students' abilities to collect, transcribe, and analyze naturalistic sequences of ordinary interaction; and 2) to train students in writing up an analysis of their findings.
