HIST-240 Race, Gender, and Empire in the 20th Century United States

This course examines race, gender, and empire as closely linked systems of power and knowledge in the twentieth-century United States. In addition to demonstrating how US imperialism has shaped racial categories in American society (and beyond), the course will draw on a range of sources to help students better understand the formation of transnational political and cultural affiliations both in and outside of the US.
