GOVT-488 U.S.-China Relations

U.S.-China relations embody the most important bilateral relationship in the world. In this course, we will examine economic, diplomatic, and security issues between the two countries and analyze changes over time as a new era of Sino-American relations defines the shifting distribution of power in global politics. We will engage in foreign policy analysis based on a wide range of sources, from theories of international relations and comparative politics to perspectives from practitioners to official government documents from both states. Areas of study include cooperation amid common interests and the prospects of major conflict and crisis.
