Examines Syrian politics from the early 20th century to the present. Topics include Syrian state formation, the Ba’ath Party, Syrian Islamist movements, the Hafez al-Assad regime, the 2011 Syrian uprising, the international dimensions of the Syrian crisis, the rise of ISIS, and the Syrian refugee crisis.
