GOVT-294 Research Lab: The Politics of Policing

In recent decades, police forces around the globe have become more militarized—adopting the weaponry, organizational structures, and accountability more typical of military forces. In this hands-on "research lab," students will work to document the spread of militarized policing internationally, and conduct research about the causes and consequences of global police militarization. The course will provide students with the opportunity to better understand quantitative research in the social sciences, as well as to develop data analysis and visualization skills.
