Research based on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) is a technique pioneered by non-profit organizations and academic institutions to improve the transparency and fact-checking of investigative journalism and strengthen legal cases in the area of international human rights. This course provides students with an overview of these techniques and considers associated ethical, privacy, and technological concerns. Students will use techniques learned in class to gather and analyze OSINT materials related to international human rights violations in the context of the Russo-Ukrainian War.
