GERMN-156 In Transit: Media and Migration

This course is an entry-level survey that explores the intersection of media and migration, allowing students to work with a variety of (moving) image materials, spanning from traditional film, video essays, new media and social media, computer games, performances and installation art, graphic novels, and other intermedial and transmedial constellations. We will explore representations of migration due to political conflict, global economic inequality, and climate change with special attention paid to the racialization and gendering of mobile populations.
