GEOSC-231 Geomorphology

Geomorphology is the study of Earth surface processes that directly shape and sculpt the landscape around us. In understanding how topography and terrain develop and change, students will gain tools to scientifically predict future landscape evolution and related natural hazards. While geomorphology can include a wide range of topics, for this elective course we will focus on three primary subjects that are particularly prevalent: rivers, hillslopes, and glacial landscapes. This course will include systematic investigation in the classroom of preexisting datasets as well as multiple field expeditions to local sites of geomorphic interest.
