DANCE-113 Elementary Jazz Dance

An introductory technique course exploring jazz dance as a form grounded in Black American cultural and performance traditions. Students develop foundational skills in rhythm, coordination, and jazz vocabulary while situating studio practice within the historical evolution of jazz dance. Attention is given to stylistic nuance, musicality, and expressive range within jazz movement. Open to all students; no previous dance experience required.
