DANCE-100 Dance Foundations
An introduction to dance through both practice and theory, exploring dance as a physical, artistic, historical, and cultural form. Students will engage in movement experiences, view and discuss performances, and learn to analyze and interpret dance across multiple genres and traditions. Particular attention is given to situating dance within its historical contexts and tracing how social, political, and cultural forces shape movement practices over time. The course builds foundational skills in movement awareness, critical thinking, and cultural understanding of dance. Open to all students; no previous dance experience required.
