ASNST-125 Image, Spire, Dome: Art in South Asia

An introduction to South Asia’s rich history of religious art and architecture with case studies selected from the second millennium BCE to the present day. Topics include the emblematic portrayal of sacrality in antiquity, representations of divinity in painting, sculpture, and popular culture, the emergence of rock-cut architecture, and the evolution of sacred building traditions across religions.
