NEURO-335 Neurophysiology

This course will focus on the properties and functions of neurons and other excitable cells, from the precise timing required for the brain to process sound waves to the production of large forces that pump blood throughout the body. Through lectures, labs and discussions of primary research articles, students will learn about action potentials, ion channels, synapses and intracellular messengers. By the end of the course students will be familiar with experimental methods in neurophysiology and will have hands-on experience with electrophysiological techniques. Three hours of lecture and three hours of laboratory.
