GOVT-239 Digital Human Rights Investigation Project

Research based on Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) is a technique being pioneered by various non-profit organizations and academic institutions internationally to improve transparency and fact-checking of investigative journalism and to strengthen legal cases in the area of international human rights. This course and its associated prerequisite workshop will provide students with an overview of these techniques and will consider associated ethical, human rights, privacy, and technological concerns. Students will use techniques learned in class to gather OSINT materials during the semester.
