ECON-414 Topics in Macroeconomic Policy

This course focuses on monetary and fiscal policy interactions. It covers economic theory and empirical facts about monetary and fiscal regimes, inflation, government deficits and debt in the United States, the European Union and emerging economies.  Students will learn to examine the existing literature critically. There will be frequent discussions of journal articles and their policy implications. The focus will be on learning how to use economic theory and statistical methods to formulate and test hypotheses.
