WMGST-302 Feminist and Queer Utopian Thinking and Practice

This course will explore how feminist and queer thinkers and activists have imagined and built alternative, more hopeful, presents and futures. We will study the development of feminist utopian theory and activist projects, as well as the long history of arguably queer utopian communities, with a focus on our local region. Students will do research using the Communal Societies collection at Burke Library, and the course will include a field trip to the Oneida Mansion, historic home of the Oneida Community.
