THETR-205 Performing Women

This course focuses on female playwrights of color. It analyzes performances of gender and race in American theatre. How do we read ‘woman’ onstage and how have artists disrupted or supported dominant understandings of ‘woman’ through theatrical performances? At the end of the course students move from analysis of text/performance to creation of their own solo performance pieces.
