SOC-366 Inequalities in Education
Framed in sociology of education scholarship, in this course we will explore K-12 schooling inequalities within the United States. We will examine different schooling options available to families, including public, private, charter and homeschools. Questions we will explore, include: How do factors like race, social class and gender matter within the context of schools and schooling options? We will consider the relationship between schooling inequalities to other
spheres that shape social life, including families, neighborhoods, public policies and prisons.
