SOC-228 Work, Organizations, and Inequality

This course will examine how complex organizations structure work in the United States, how work has changed, and why. We will examine the structure of work from an organizational perspective, which introduces students to a framework for thinking about how social institutions (such as federal policies or racial inequality) shape the experiences of the everyday people. Students will begin to deepen their knowledge about the structure of work in the U.S., why it looks the way that it does today, and who benefits (or does not benefit) from this system.
