RELST-232 Religion and Language

This course examines complex relationships between the categories of ‘religion’ and ‘language,’ particularly the ways in which discourse and linguistic variation constitute social groups and police social boundaries. In particular, we will use tools of critical discourse analysis to extrapolate ideologies at work in various discursive communities and communities of practice.
