PSYCH-369 Psychology of Gender

An exploration of theoretical and methodological questions in the study of gender in psychology, with special emphasis on feminist perspectives and implications for social change. Our goal is to understand what "gender" is and when it matters, focusing on issues such as stereotyping, discrimination, and access to power. Key topics include understanding sex vs. gender, transgender studies, intersectionality (i.e., how other aspects of identity such as race, class, ability, age, etc. interact with gender), masculinity studies, gender discrimination in the workplace, and gendered violence.
