HSPST-281 Latin American Short Fiction

Critical reading and interdisciplinary discussion of selected Latin American short fiction. Designed to familiarize students with the poetics of the Latin American short story and its relationship to pertinent literary movements. An intercultural examination of the artistic components of various Latin American short stories within their socio-historical contexts. Readings will include works by Borges, Quiroga, Cortázar, Rulfo, Valenzuela, Castellanos, García Márquez and others.
