HSPST-223 Introduction to Hispanic Cinema

An introduction to film in the Hispanic world, exploring the development of different national traditions within Latin American and Spanish Cinema. At the same time, covers some of the basic tools for interpreting and writing about film. Editing, sound, cinematography and mise-en-scène are some of the key terms and concepts studied in order to understand how viewers and filmmakers create meaning in films. Particular attention to the interrelation of cinema and culture, and the intersection of aesthetics and politics.
