GOVT-419 Linowitz Seminar: America's Alliances and Challenges for the Future

Exploration of  the history, diplomacy, economic ties and the military efficacy of U.S. security alliances as they emerged in the immediate post-World War Two era to the present-day to better understand their relevance (or irrelevance) to address 21st century challenges, including: the future of NATO; the evolving role of the European Union; new U.S. alliances in the Indo-Pacific; the threat of democratic backsliding and rising authoritarianism; the role of the UN; and emerging threats posed by the climate crisis, technological innovation, global migration or humanitarian challenges.
