Examination of the development and evolution of the modern global economy and its political impact. Issues include global trade relations, the monetary system and international debt, the role of multinational corporations, foreign aid, imperialism and dependency, industrial competitiveness and the rise and impact of newly industrializing countries such as South Korea and Taiwan.
