CHEM-364 Enzyme Reaction Mechanisms

This course will explore the reaction mechanisms of enzymes, nature’s catalysts. We will focus on the strategies that enzymes use to catalyze functional group transfers, redox chemistry, isomerizations/rearrangements, and carbon-carbon bond formation. Emphasis will be placed on electron pushing, chemical kinetics, and transition state theory as well as the experimental approaches used to elucidate enzymatic mechanisms.
