ARTH-348 The Art and Architecture of Buddhism

This speaking-intensive seminar examines the rich and diverse art and architectural history of Buddhism, from its rise and development in South Asia to its sharing and transformation across East Asia and Southeast Asia. Case studies will be selected from the third century BCE through to the present day. Students will be required to present a research study on a Buddhist work of art or architecture that reaches beyond the “canon.”
