ARTH-201 Artifact, Testament, and Monument: Asian Art Histories

An introduction to the rich art histories of Asia from the prehistoric period to the present, with an emphasis on the arts of China, Japan, Korea, India, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, and Indonesia. With the study of select objects, paintings, sculptures, monuments, and associated social, religious, and political milieus, students will be introduced to major styles and traditions in the history of art across Asia and will engage with critical themes in the interpretation of Asian art histories.
