ARTH-156 Architecture in History

This introductory course is both a survey and a thematic approach to learning about the built environment from prehistory to the 18th century. Students will gain historical and contextual understanding of architecture and urbanism, theories and historiographical approaches to the study of the built environment, and develop visual literacy of formal and aesthetic expressions. Emphasis is on global exchange and connections across time and geography.
