ARTH-100 A World of Art (History)

This course is an introduction to the pre-modern visual cultures of the world. We will focus on themes of identity, mobility, sacrality, and embodiment throughout different historical periods and across cultures. Exploration of these themes will reveal how images, objects, and monuments were made, experienced, and used in relation to social, political, and religious beliefs. Students will also gain a basic understanding of visual vocabulary and literacy.
