LIT-332 Renaissance Drama: From the Edge of the City to the Edge of the Law
The course focuses on Renaissance drama, a time when playhouses faced censorship, plague closures and competition from bears wrestling dogs. From being murdered, to prison sentences, to death by plague, many of the writers had a hard time too. We will study plays (some obscure, some quite strange, other rather famous, all enormously interesting) from this very rich and volatile period of literary history.
