LIT-254 The Matter of Text

This course will focus on exploring the material conditions of the texts we read and how those conditions affect how we receive and understand those texts. This course will involve hands-on projects ranging from handwritten, to letterpress, to digital typography, along with selected readings on the history and theory of text and typography. Students will be expected to actively explore their own relationships to both reading and writing as they work their way through the various technologies used to produce the written word.
