CHNSE-433 Understanding Taiwan through Film

This course discusses Taiwan’s political, cultural, gender, and immigration history, social and religious customs, ethnic tensions, and environmental challenges through a wide range of Taiwanese films. Students will gain a broad understanding of Taiwan’s diverse culture and complex society, improving their Chinese speaking skills for presenting and discussing ideas on advanced level. Requirements: individual and group presentations, class discussions, debates, film viewing, and role-play activities.
