BIO-419 Life and the seasons

How do organisms adapt to seasonal changes in their environment? Almost all habitats have multiple seasons, characterized by somewhat predictable changes in temperature, light, or precipitation. Organisms have many adaptations to such seasonal dynamics ("phenology"). In this course, we will identify common phenological adaptations, and explore the value of these adaptations in habitats strongly influenced by climate change and invasive species. We will also track phenology of organisms on campus and analyze the forces driving these patterns.
