ARTH-101 Introduction to Art History
Introduction to Art History pursues three objectives: 1) to provide a historical and contextual understanding of the production, reception, and circulation of art since 1450; 2) to introduce students to the discipline of art history and the various methods and approaches that scholars use to interrogate the significance of works of art; and 3) to begin to develop students’ visual literacy so they may navigate their own visual environment from a critically informed perspective.
